PDF Questions

All of Our Toy Plans Are PDF Downloads.

How Do PDF eBooks and ePlans Downloads Work?
All of our Toy Plans are Royalty Free! See item #8 for details.

1. What is a PDF eBook and ePlan digital PDF download file?
Our eBooks and PDF ePlans downloads can be easily and instantly downloaded to your computer in the convenient Adobe PDF format. Our PDF toy plans easily print full-size to 8-1/2" x 11" or A4 paper on any computer printer. For best results make sure you're opening the PDF file in the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program. Sometimes if you view the PDF file in your browser and not in Adobe Reader, the pages will not print full-size.

The Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format created by Adobe Systems for document exchange. PDF's are files are very common and are easily readable in Adobe Reader through a free download app from Adobe Systems: https://get.adobe.com/reader/
If you're downloading the PDF files to your iPhone, iPad, Android devices or Windows Phone you can download the free Adobe Reader app here: https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/products/mobile-app.html

When viewing our eBooks and ePlans in Adobe Reader we recommend viewing the pages "two up": Go to View in your Reader menu bar and select View/Page Display/Two-Up Continuous/Show Cover Page During Two-Up.

2. Is an eBook Reader such as the Amazon Kindle or the Barnes & Noble Nook required to open, read and print ToymakingPlans.com eBooks and ePlans?
All you need to open, read and print our ePlans and eBooks is the free Adobe Reader software installed on your computer (Adobe Reader Version 5 or later). Adobe Reader is usually already on your computer, but if not please see #1 for how to install the free Adobe Reader app.

3. How will I receive a PDF eBook or ePlan download that I purchase?
You will purchase the PDF eBook or ePlan as you would any product on the internet by adding it to your shopping cart. When you're ready to check out you'll be given the opportunity to create a ToymakingPlans.com account. We encourage you create an account so you can access your orders at any time and download your PDF files at your convenience. After you submit your credit card or Pay Pal account information your PDF download link will appear in your ToymakingPlans.com online account. Your download links will never expire. All you have to do is log into your ToymakingPlans.com account to access your download links at any time.

4. How do I save a PDF eBook or ePlan download file to my computer desktop?
Save the PDF eBook or ePlan file to your desktop by selecting "Save" in the file download dialog box when you click on the PDF download link. If you open the file and did not click "Save", you can still save the file to your desktop by selecting "File/Save As" in Acrobat Reader.

5. Should I print all the pages?
Our PDF ePlans include several full-color photos of the completed toy from different angles so you'll have lots of reference information when building. Although some customers like to print the entire plan set we recommend that you print only the black and white precision line pattern drawings to conserve printing ink. If you own an Apple iPad or Android Tablet you can also keep the PDF file on your tablet to access the assembly steps and the full color photos when in your shop. Your saved PDF file makes it convenient to reprint pattern pages whenever needed.

6. Are all your PDF Plans full-size with full-size patterns?
YES! Even toys that require patterns larger than what is printable on 8-1/2" x 11" paper have full-size patterns. For large toys the patterns are made up of a convenient set of 8-1/2" x 11" printable pages that are quickly taped together by matching super easy to align arrows on each page. It's really fun,  easy and accurate to assemble a larger pattern.

7. Do your plans come in metric dimensions?
Since most of our patterns are designed to be applied directly to the wood and then cut out, those measurements aren't critical. Our toys are designed to use millimeter materials with no adjustments required. Our pattern pages are also designed with adequate margins to print to A4 paper. We sell to customers all around the world.

Our toys are designed to use millimeter materials with no adjustments required:

Convert fractions to millimeters

All of the dimensions can vary + or  –  1/16” or 3 millimeters without affecting the assembly. A good online English to Metric conversion tool online can be found here: http://www.simetric.co.uk/feet_to_metres.php. What's great about this conversion tool is you can enter English fractions without having to convert the fraction to a decimal.

Our plans are also designed with adequate margins to accommodate both 8-1/2" x 11" paper and A4 paper. It's recommended that you first print only one of the black line patterns page so you can make sure your printer is printing the patterns full-size. If you have trouble printing full-size that can be corrected by making sure your printer is set to print, "Actual Size".

We'd also recommend that you visit our Toymakers Forum: https://forums.toymakingplans.com/. We have members from all around the world and many use metric tools. If you join the forum you can ask questions regarding building the toys using metric tools and wood.

8. Will I be required to pay royalty fees on the toys I build from your toy plans?
ALL OF OUR TOY PLANS ARE ROYALTY FREE! You can build as many of the toys as you like. There are no restrictions on how many toys you can build. We completely support toymakers who are interested in making toys to sell. There are no royalty fees on any of our plans and you can make and sell as many of the toys as you like anywhere in the world.
PLEASE NOTE: The toy plan sets are for the exclusive use of the original buyer. It is a crime and will be prosecuted. The toy plans are copyrighted and the copyright is strictly enforced. Any infringement is investigated by the FBI.
